The Challenge

The owners had lived in the house for over two decades. The garage had absorbed everything that didn't quite have a home — tools used twice, sports equipment from three phases of life, boxes that moved with the family and never quite got unpacked. A useful garage had become an anxiety-producing one.

What We Changed

• Removed and categorised all contents — 14 van loads
• Donated 60% to local charity shops and community groups
• Sold vintage tools and equipment on client's behalf
• Remaining items professionally labelled and organised
• Full deep clean — floor scrubbed, walls washed, door track cleaned

The Challenge

The family's double garage had become a secondary storage unit — furniture from a previous property, children's sports equipment from four different activities, a workbench buried under three layers of other things. Both cars were parked on the drive. The space was theirs, but they'd lost access to it.

What We Changed

• Full clear-out across two bays — 22 van loads removed
• Furniture sent to consignment and charity
• Created four distinct zones: workshop, sports, seasonal, garden
• Heavy-duty shelving system installed — double run, both walls
• Workbench cleared, organised and tooled up properly
• Sports rack built for ski equipment, tennis, cycling gear
• Overhead storage installed — loft-style, ceiling-mounted

The client wanted a home studio — a space for architectural drawing, side projects and weekend work. The garage was clear and structurally sound, but cold, poorly lit and materialy uninspiring. The fluorescent tubes had to go. The concrete had to go.

• Four warm-white recessed downlights — 2700K, high CRI
• Track light over desk zone — directional, warm
• Walls skimmed, primed and painted — off-white warm base
• Two runs of solid oak shelving — floating, wall-mounted
• Custom oak desk unit, flush to wall
• All cabling concealed — clean back wall
• Electrical socket upgrade — 6 positions along desk run
• Persian rug — antique wool, 120×180cm (client supplied)

A large, structurally excellent double garage that had never been treated with any design intent. Cracked concrete floor, fluorescent bar lighting, bare walls. The clients wanted a multi-use space: car parking, workshop, home gym. Three needs, one resolved floor plan.

The Brief

Marcus owns two classic cars and a motorcycle. He had the mechanical skill but not the space — not properly. His existing garage was functional but visually chaotic. He wanted a space that looked as good as the cars it housed. Not a display space — a working atelier.

What We Designed and Built

The client travels to surf six times a year and owns eight boards. Between trips, everything lived in a disorganised heap. The boards were unprotected, the wetsuits were damp, the fins were lost. She wanted a kit room that she'd look forward to returning to — and be proud to close the door on.

• Heated drying area — low-temperature baseboard element
• Wax shelf — solid teak, wall-mounted, with iron and fins drawer below

• Open timber ladder shelf — travel gear, reference books, plant
• Outdoor rinse connection — plumbed, with hose reel
