Space Reclaimed

Full 16m²

Before: heavily cluttered single garage with years of accumulated items
After: clean, organised single garage with premium wall-mounted storage system
Before After

The Challenge

The owners had lived in the house for over two decades. The garage had absorbed everything that didn't quite have a home — tools used twice, sports equipment from three phases of life, boxes that moved with the family and never quite got unpacked. A useful garage had become an anxiety-producing one.

What We Changed

  • Removed and categorised all contents — 14 van loads
  • Donated 60% to local charity shops and community groups
  • Sold vintage tools and equipment on client's behalf
  • Remaining items professionally labelled and organised
  • Full deep clean — floor scrubbed, walls washed, door track cleaned
  • Wall-mounted modular storage system installed — seven bays
  • Pegboard tool station for workshop tools
  • Ceiling bike storage for two bikes
  • Labelled boxes on open shelving — seasonal, sports, DIY

What the Client Gained

  • Full use of a 16m² garage that was previously inaccessible
  • A working zone for DIY with all tools accessible
  • Bike storage — both bikes off the floor
  • Seasonal item storage with clear labelling
  • Clarity: they now know exactly what they own
  • Resale income from tools sold on their behalf: ~£340
  • A garage they're proud to open the door to

Gallery

"We'd been promising ourselves we'd sort the garage for years. Garage Form did it in three days. The relief was enormous — and the space is now genuinely useful. I can park again. The kids can get their bikes without a problem. We should have done it years ago."

Zones Created

4 distinct zones

Before: double garage crammed with furniture, boxes and general storage
After: organised double garage with workshop, sports and seasonal zones
Before After

The Challenge

The family's double garage had become a secondary storage unit — furniture from a previous property, children's sports equipment from four different activities, a workbench buried under three layers of other things. Both cars were parked on the drive. The space was theirs, but they'd lost access to it.

What We Changed

  • Full clear-out across two bays — 22 van loads removed
  • Furniture sent to consignment and charity
  • Created four distinct zones: workshop, sports, seasonal, garden
  • Heavy-duty shelving system installed — double run, both walls
  • Workbench cleared, organised and tooled up properly
  • Sports rack built for ski equipment, tennis, cycling gear
  • Overhead storage installed — loft-style, ceiling-mounted
  • Labelled bins, seasonal rotation system in place

What the Client Gained

  • Both cars back in the garage
  • A proper, functioning workshop for the first time in years
  • Organised sports storage — four activities, one system
  • Seasonal items stored overhead, out of the way
  • Consignment income from furniture: ~£680
  • A clear-headed system that the whole family understands
  • 36m² fully reclaimed

Gallery

"Four zones. Four days. Brilliant. The workshop zone particularly — I had no idea it could look so good. The labelling system is still working six months later. We haven't lost anything since."

Gallery-finish Resin

Before: bare concrete floor, fluorescent tube lighting, whitewashed walls
After: gallery-finish resin floor, warm recessed lighting, solid oak shelving
Before After

The Challenge

The client wanted a home studio — a space for architectural drawing, side projects and weekend work. The garage was clear and structurally sound, but cold, poorly lit and materialy uninspiring. The fluorescent tubes had to go. The concrete had to go.

What We Changed

  • Gallery-finish warm grey resin floor — seamless, 3mm coat
  • Four warm-white recessed downlights — 2700K, high CRI
  • Track light over desk zone — directional, warm
  • Walls skimmed, primed and painted — off-white warm base
  • Two runs of solid oak shelving — floating, wall-mounted
  • Custom oak desk unit, flush to wall
  • All cabling concealed — clean back wall
  • Electrical socket upgrade — 6 positions along desk run
  • Persian rug — antique wool, 120×180cm (client supplied)

What the Client Gained

  • A proper, warm, beautiful studio to work from
  • The quality of light that makes long hours tolerable
  • Desk, shelving and storage in a single designed system
  • A floor that photographs like a gallery
  • A space they choose to be in, not just tolerate
  • Estimated property value increase — surveyor noted as meaningful

Gallery

"The floor alone changed everything. But when the lighting went in and the shelving was loaded, it was unrecognisable. It looks like a room from a magazine. And it's warm. I work better in there than anywhere else in the house."

Herringbone Oak + Resin

Before: large double garage with cracked concrete floor and strip lighting
After: herringbone oak flooring, pendant lighting, powder-coated steel storage system
Before After

The Challenge

A large, structurally excellent double garage that had never been treated with any design intent. Cracked concrete floor, fluorescent bar lighting, bare walls. The clients wanted a multi-use space: car parking, workshop, home gym. Three needs, one resolved floor plan.

What We Changed

  • Herringbone oak zone — parking area converted to gym/lounge zone
  • Gallery resin in workshop and car zones
  • Three warm low-voltage pendants — industrial ceramic, 2700K
  • Four recessed downlights in workshop zone
  • Powder-coated steel storage system — RAL 9005 black
  • Wall-mounted fold-down workbench (solid oak top)
  • All cabling concealed in surface conduit — industrial aesthetic
  • Rubber-inset mat in gym zone under herringbone
  • Cable management trunkways throughout

What the Client Gained

  • Three defined zones in one coherent space
  • A floor the clients say they're "embarrassed to park on"
  • A workshop that looks and works like a professional space
  • A gym zone that stays on the floor plan without compromise
  • Lighting that does three different jobs beautifully
  • A property asset — estate agent valued the conversion separately

Gallery

"I drive in and genuinely feel like I've arrived somewhere. That floor — the herringbone section under the gym kit — is extraordinary. The pendants were my wife's suggestion and she was completely right. The whole thing is just satisfying to be in."

Waxed Concrete + Oak

Before: large double garage with oil-stained concrete and no organisation
After: waxed concrete floor, lift position, bespoke tool cabinets, track lighting, framed automotive prints
Before After

The Brief

Marcus owns two classic cars and a motorcycle. He had the mechanical skill but not the space — not properly. His existing garage was functional but visually chaotic. He wanted a space that looked as good as the cars it housed. Not a display space — a working atelier.

What We Designed and Built

  • Waxed concrete floor — mechanically prepared, sealed, waxed
  • Structural reinforcement and pit/lift-point preparation
  • Bespoke tool cabinet run — 8 units, oak handles, powder-coated steel
  • Pegboard wall system — full 4m run, organised by task
  • 4m solid oak workbench — twin vices, integrated lighting below shelf
  • Track lighting on main ceiling — directional warm spots, 2700K
  • Recessed strip below bench shelf — warm, task-focused
  • Parts storage in rear — floor-to-ceiling open shelving, oak
  • Four framed vintage automotive prints — curated by Garage Form
  • Small Turkish rug — Kilim, aged blue and red, 90×140cm
  • All cabling managed — clean walls throughout

What the Client Gained

  • A working atelier that looks as good as the cars it houses
  • A tool system that anyone who uses tools would be proud of
  • The structural preparation to add a lift without future disruption
  • Lighting that makes working under a car beautiful, not brutal
  • A space that respects the craftsmanship of car ownership
  • Framing and curation — the walls say something about who owns it
  • A garage he shows off. Willingly, and often.

Gallery

"They understood from the first conversation that I didn't want a 'man cave'. I wanted a proper workspace. The result is better than anything I'd imagined. It's precise, beautiful, considered. My tools have never looked better — or been more accessible."

Waxed Concrete

Before: single garage used as dump storage with boards leaning against walls
After: board racks, wetsuit drying rods, waxed concrete, warm timber, wax shelf
Before After

The Brief

The client travels to surf six times a year and owns eight boards. Between trips, everything lived in a disorganised heap. The boards were unprotected, the wetsuits were damp, the fins were lost. She wanted a kit room that she'd look forward to returning to — and be proud to close the door on.

What We Designed and Built

  • Waxed concrete floor — warm grey, sealed, durable finish
  • Full-length horizontal board rack — 8 positions, padded, wall-mounted
  • Three stainless wetsuit drying rods — adjustable height
  • Heated drying area — low-temperature baseboard element
  • Wax shelf — solid teak, wall-mounted, with iron and fins drawer below
  • Leash, rash vest and accessories cabinet — reclaimed oak
  • Three warm pendants — globe filament, 2200K
  • Open timber ladder shelf — travel gear, reference books, plant
  • Outdoor rinse connection — plumbed, with hose reel
  • Two framed surf photography prints — editorial, not decorative

What the Client Gained

  • Eight boards stored safely, labelled and accessible
  • Wetsuits dry without smell or deterioration
  • A system for every piece of kit — nothing lost, nothing in a pile
  • The warm, low light of a space designed to feel good to come home to
  • A rinse station that means saltwater never enters the house
  • A garage that reflects the quality of how she surfs
  • The best accessory to a surf lifestyle that doesn't need a coastline

Gallery

"I stood in the finished space for about twenty minutes before I could leave. Every single thing I own is in its place. The boards are perfect. The light is exactly right. It's the first room in the house I go to when I get back from a trip."
